Class July 17

We began class by looking at two ways to combine images without a computer by using a slide projector. One way is with Projected Images.  You project a slide onto a three dimensional object and rephotograph the combined images.  Another way to combine images is with a Slide Sandwich.  You put two slides into a slide projector at the same time and rephotgraph the combined images.  This works best by combining sunset images with graphic images against a plane light toned background, but other combinations are possible.

We then looked at our two primary topics for the evening, Filters and Film.

After doing a review of student work, we took a brief photographic trip to Las Vegas and talked about how to shoot city lights. The key is to overexpose about 1 to 3 stops from what the camera meter tells you.

We will have a field trip this Thursday at 7 PM at Bishop's Bog.  Go south on Westnedge one mile past the intersection of Westnedge and Center Road. Look for the brwon Bishops Bog sign. Turn right on the road on the south side of the baseball diamonds and park in the parking lot just past the first two ball diamonds. The trail begins there and heads south into the bog. We will go about 1/2 mile south on the trail in search of the yellow fringed orchids that are just beginning to bloom.  Weather permitting, we will shoot a sunset from the bog or head over to Sugarloaf Lake. We will not meet if it is raining. Bring insect repellant just in case.

We will have class again next Tuesday, July 24, and we MIGHT have an extra class July 31, depending on my travel schedule.

We will have a field trip sometime the weekend of July 27-29.
