Anchorage, Alaska sits between the two arms of Cook Inlet. As you go north out of Anchorage on the way to Denali NAtional Park, you cross the Knik Arm. When you leave Anchorage going south, you can drive along the entire length of Turnagain Arm.  We spent an afternoon and evening taking in the fiord like scenery.

We arrived near low tide with water glistening on the exposed flats. Wading on the flats at low tide is prohibited due to quicksand.

The sunstar in the above photo is the natural result of shooting at a small aperture with a wide angle lens.  No filter was used.

With tidal fluctuations as much as 33 feet, Turnagain Arm is exceeded only by the Bay of Fundy for the highest tides on the planet.
