 for Feb 12-18, 2001

At class Monday, since it was such a beuatiful evening, we began by going outside and looking at Jewel Box Lighting.  After doing some metering and explaning the principle, we went back inside and talked about Jewel Box Lighting in depth.

Your assignment is to pick a building and try this technique.

We then spent quite a bit of time on Flash Photography.  After covering the basics, we tested flash units for guide numbers.  Then we had a demonstration of simple portrait techniques in preparation for our portrait exercise in class on Feb 19.

As preparation for class next week, look at the articles on Simple Portraits, and Flash Portraits. Bring a 400 speed color negative film to class.  First choice: Kodak Portra 400VC, 2nd choice: Kodak Gold 400.

MEIJER GARDENS FIELD TRIP

We will meet Saturday, Feb 17, at 9 AM at Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids for a field trip. Admission for our class is $4.

Go north on US 131 to Grand Rapids, east on I-196, north a long block on East Beltline, and enter the Gardens on your right.
